Alvin Thomas
Alvin, a Chester, Pa. native, and a long time resident of the state of Delaware, joined the the WKF in it’s beginning roots. With more then twenty years as a Youth Rehabilitation Specialist both for Delaware and Pennsylvania, he brings a wealth of education, training and experience to the the foundation. In 2004 he help organize a grass roots non-profit agency in Wilmington De., (S.A.G.E) Survivors Addressing Grief Easement, which advocated for families, in relationship with victims rights in various crimes of abuse. In 2005, Alvin co-founded, along with his wife Marcy, The Blood Healing Services in Southern Pa, which provides services for the survivors of victims of violent crimes. Alvin has been a certified Domestic Violence Outreach Specialist for the State of Pa. since 2009 and has addressed the the issue of domestic violence in several different arenas from youth detention centers to corporate organizations and also participates in faith base services in Southern pa, New Jersey and Delaware. As a professional trainer, he has provided training in abuse awareness to police agencies, hotel and casino management, and other human services organizations.
Alvin has currently been recruited into a new organization, with the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence in collaboration with the Delaware Jewish Services as a spokesman and a recruiter and has recently completed a state wide public announcement campaign.
As a survivor of victims of homicide both in 2000 with the murder of his 16yr old son, and again in 2007 with the murder of his sister-in-law after years of an abusive marriage, one of his most important aspects is his relentless dedication. With education and training, in the awareness of abuse, he believes that a countless number of lives could be changed and even saved. His dedication to the WKF, has proven to be nothing less then driven.
